Compress images
Make photos and images smaller in file size with barely visible quality loss. Perfect for email, websites and upload forms with a size limit.
100% private: processed on your device, nothing is uploaded.
Automatic: JPG stays JPG and WebP stays WebP. PNG becomes JPG, or WebP if the image has transparency.
How it works
- Choose or drag your images into the box above.
- Adjust the quality if you like. 70–80% is a good balance between size and quality.
- Compare the new file size and download your compressed images.
How much smaller will my images get?
Photos from a phone or camera usually shrink by 50–80% without visible difference. Images that were already compressed shrink less. If the compressed version would be larger, we keep the original.
Private and fast
Your images are compressed by your own browser. Nothing is uploaded, so there are no upload limits and your photos remain private. As a bonus, location data and other metadata (EXIF) are removed.
Frequently asked questions
Which quality setting should I use?
For photos, 70–80% is usually indistinguishable from the original. Use 85–90% for images with fine detail or text, and 50–60% when the file size matters most.
What happens to PNG files?
With the automatic setting, PNG files without transparency become JPG, and PNG files with transparency become WebP. That usually saves the most space. You can also choose an output format yourself.
Is my photo metadata removed?
Yes. The compressed image contains no EXIF data such as GPS location, camera model or date. The orientation is applied to the image itself.
How many images can I compress at once?
As many as you like. Because everything runs on your device, there is no limit on the number of files or their size, other than your device’s memory.
